The public relations officer of the state police command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the discovery of the factory. Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Benue state police command have arrested a specialist and manufacturer of deadly arms, identified as Sunday Odoh.
The state police command at about 6.am, Sunday, August 4, nabbed Odoh upon
the discovery a factory where locally made firearms, particularly short guns, are produced.
Intelligence reports stated that the police raid on the factory occurred in a dingy area along Orokam in Ogbadibo local government area of the state.
Confirming the discovery, the public relations officer of the state police command, Moses Yamu, said several items including a machine used for constructing guns, various sizes of pipes, gun accessories, and empty shells of cartridges were recovered from the scene.
Yamu said: ‘‘The suspect is in custody and investigation is in progress. It is a major breakthrough in our efforts at checkmating the proliferation of arms and ammunition within the society and Benue State in particular.”
